Tell us about yourself

I’m the son of an immigrant. Living in London, born in Somerset with a Napoli twist I obsess about people power. My first ‘proper’ job was working on the 1997 Labour General Election campaign. In 2018 I founded Rally, a small but mighty mobilisation consultancy, we only work with progressive organisations fighting for a fairer, healthier, safer, greener, more equal world. It’s our job to help them raise the profile of their activities, actively engage the public at scale and inspire the public to take the actions needed to win change. I’m lucky enough to have worked with charities and membership organisations all over the world, including (but not limited to), American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Anti Slavery International, Greenpeace, Hope not hate, The Labour Party, Mermaids, Refuge, Stonewall, The Trussell Trust and WWF. I was once asked to help out on a pitch for some Tory party work and nearly lost my job due to my response.

What excites you about being part of the ARTCRY panel?

The intersection of art and activism excites me. Movements need scale, and scale comes from awareness and relevancy. Activist art throws a light on the most urgent and compelling issues of the day, reaches people outside of the ‘bubble’ and can draw the wider public closer to the movements that will eventually win change. The opportunity to help fund art alongside this extraordinary panel that is relevant to the issues of the day is an opportunity I relish.

What components would your dream application have?

I want to see art that cut through the complexity of an issue, highlights the injustice, gives the viewer hope, drives scale and could be the catalyst for active participation in fighting that injustice.
The Steering Committee
The company directors and panel are involved on an individual capacity, not representing their organisations and on a voluntary basis.
If you are interested in joining the panel in future please email Kathryn Bilyard on kathryn@artcry.co.uk with some information about yourself and why you are interested.
