Work with us!

ARTCRY are hiring a fundraiser - is it you?

Apply by sending you CV and cover letter to kathryn@artcry.co.uk by 30 July.

About Artcry

Artcry is a fund which supports responsive political artworks in public space. We offer seven-day turnaround on applications in order for artists to be able to respond to events as they happen. All the work we fund must be presented for free and in public space.

Artcry is run on a volunteer basis, this is our first paid position thanks to funding from Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Network For Social Change who are supporting us as the organisation develops into the next phase.

Our goal is to make ARTCRY a reliable resource for the sector. A key area of this development is to create core funding partnerships. Our goal is to reach a £50,000 per year funding pot (plus overheads at £1,000) and to be able to raise our maximum grant to £5,000 as standard. We want to do this while remaining a viable volunteer-led organisation and so we're looking for someone who can help us develop and set up manageable structures for the future.

What we need to do:

We’re looking for a fundraiser/s to support this in two key areas;

1) To increase individual support with the aim of raising £20,000 pa a year from a circle of regular givers.

We have been successful to date with raising money from individuals with gifts up to £2,500 in one-off gifts. Our aim is to consolidate the work to date and step it up. We're looking to bring together a circle of regular givers who can offer valuable core support.

2) To build relationships with trusts and foundations and other partners with a goal of regular support up to £30,000 pa.

We are looking to continue building relationships with funders/partners who would be interested in supporting the core activities of the organisation with regular, multi-year support. This is unlikely to look like regular grant applications as we are a funder ourselves so we’re looking to build relationships around shared aims and values. We are looking to work with a fundraiser who can help us prospect, connect and navigate through potential partnerships.

Who we’re looking for

We’re open to whether we work with one person, a couple of people or a team on different areas of this work. We’re looking for someone/people who;

  • Care deeply about political, socially engaged art, who wants to actively support more of this work to happen.

  • Can advocate for the core idea that political, public art has the power to give a new perspective, create radical, inspiring ideas, connect people with nuance, empathy and to hold contradiction. People who believe that we need artists doing this work and we should support it.

  • Are flexible, imaginative and excited by innovating new funding models and taking on a challenge which requires doing things differently.

  • Someone who has a proven track record in their area and is well connected to support the team to meet new people.

Practical info

Where - we don’t have an office so you’ll be mainly working remotely and will need your own equipment. You can be based anywhere in the country but will need to travel for in- person meetings as required with potential donors/partners and directors. In-person meetings with directors will most likely be held in London.

Fee - we have a budget of £5,000 for this work – fees to be discussed.

When - work time is very flexible. Everyone involved is working on a volunteer basis and so work is undertaken ad hoc and in line with capacity. This can remain flexible or become more structured as is needed. The length of the agreement is also flexible depending on whether you’re interested in the whole piece or a particular area of focus and can be discussed.

If you’re interested please get in touch with Kathryn Bilyard on kathryn@artcry.co.uk by 30 July with your CV and a cover letter outlining what from the above you’d be interested in working on and why you’d like to work with us.
